Making Pictures with Me

Lifestyle portrait photographer in the Santa Clarita Valley, Los Angeles, Southern California. Family, maternity, newborn, portraits.
What kind of photographer are you?

I am a portrait photographer specializing in families, maternity and newborns.  I focus on capturing the moments that make up our lives and the connections making it all worth it.  I also work in documentary and fine art photography and as such, I am not about getting everyone to look at the camera or making sure your kids smile -- though I'm sure we'll capture some giggles along the way.

Where will my session be held?

Most family sessions happen outdoors in a natural space, whereas newborn sessions take place in the home.   Depending on your vibe, maternity portraits can be simple and natural with a lifestyle feel outdoors, or we can discus more fine art options as well.

How long will my session be?

Sessions can run anywhere from about an hour to 2 hours it just depends on our needs and our flow.  Newborn and maternity sessions tend to be on the longer side.

What will my session be like?

Hopefully super fun and easy!  I try to shoot throughout the whole session, even when you may think you’re not quite ready or your kids aren’t quite settled.  We may flow in and out of different arrangements and locations as it suits us, usually starting with some pictures of the whole family and then breaking up into smaller configurations.  I will give direction, I will let you be yourselves, I will try my best to meet your kids where they are, and aim for everyone to feel comfortable, natural, and like themselves.

Where will my newborn session be held?

Newborn sessions take place in the home, typically in the mid to late morning when the light is best and in the room with the most natural window light.  If for some reason your house doesn’t receive morning light but has beautiful window evening light, we can work with that as well.

What should I wear?

It is not important for your outfits to match or meet any particular requirements except that you like them, you feel comfortable, and you feel like yourselves.  My best advice, especially for family sessions, is to think in terms of coordinating colors and styles rather than matching. Often softer colors work well, highly contrasting colors like mixing black pieces with white pieces can be a bit tricky. And avoid large logos.  However, focus on representing your best selves and the rest will fall into place.

How far out are you booked?

As I am a busy parent as well, my schedule ebbs and flows depending on my life availability!  Typically I can schedule within a month from inquiry, maybe two.  More often than not though, scheduling is often dependent on your availability, as well as the weather in Santa Clarita — Wind and heat can make for uncomfortable sessions and less than desirable results so I do my best to schedule outdoor sessions in good weather.

Will I get the digital photos from my session?

Yes, I provide digital downloads through a password protected and secure gallery.  Most packages come with the digital files included, some packages may require purchase of some or all of the images.

can I order prints and products from you?

Absolutely!  I have options I print in my studio and can also provide more products and options via my online printing service.  Making your portraits tangible is the final, special piece of the process.  I am happy to assist in this process and if you are looking for something in particular, I would love to figure it out with you!

A few other things...

All pictures are taken by me directly, and I edit each image myself.  I do not use a remote editor or AI processes.  Though I work in a digital medium and use digital tools and resources, I do not use AI to write any of my content or communications.  I want your experience to feel as hands on and real as possible.
